Judge Diane T. Minnifield received her J.D. degree from the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law in 1986. She worked with low-income clients in various civil practice areas for Central Kentucky Legal Services before joining the Fayette County Attorney’s Office in 1992. Diane has served as a hearing examiner for the Lexington Fayette Human Rights Commission and has prosecuted cases in adult criminal, juvenile, and child support courts. Before becoming being elected to the Circuit Court bench, Diane was a career prosecutor in the Dependency, Neglect and Abuse court. Diane is dedicated to ensuring the citizens of Fayette County can live, grow, and thrive in a safe community.

With a background in juvenile court, Diane has worked on issues such as domestic violence, gun violence, the war on drugs, and untreated mental illness. She values diversity in the courtroom for the perspectives it brings.

Diane is married to Frank Minnifield and has two adult children, Chase and Chanel. Active in her church, she has spent significant time supporting her children's activities but now focuses on serving the Commonwealth as she now serves on the Circuit Court bench. Committed to justice, equality, integrity, and compassion, Diane has served on various committees and community boards, including the CASA Board and Central Kentucky Riding for Hope. She was also a member of Mayor Gordon’s Commission for Racial Justice and Equality.
